The Good Life Survey
The Good Life Survey: TAKE THE SURVEY We designed this survey to measure some of the major drivers identified in the field of Positive Psychology. All told, the survey should take 15 minutes or less to complete. In recent decades, traditional psychology has been more focused on alleviating suffering and mental illness than looking at what drives well-being and positive life outcomes. The focus is often on what’s wrong in your life rather than what’s right about it. In contrast, the empirical science of Positive Psychology is focused on helping people pursue the good life—a state in which: You are flourishing. You are happy and contented with who you are and what you have. You are optimistic about the future. You have loving relationships. Positive Psychology describes four pathways to well-being. Each pathway plays a major role in driving happiness. The Good Life Survey asks questions to assess your state across each of these pathways: - Positive Emotions: When you savor the present, are grateful for the past, and are hopeful for the future, you are experiencing positive emotion.
- Engagement: When you do what you do best, when you use your signature strengths in your life’s work, you are fully engaged and absorbed.
- Meaning: When you are involved in activities that are beyond your self-interest, and that you believe matter to the world, your life is full of meaning and purpose.
- Positive Relationships: When you are surrounded by loving and supportive relationships, you are trusting of others, you can share yourself with your friends, your family, and your colleagues, your life is enriched with positive relationships.
At the end of the survey, you will receive a score for each pathway as well as an overall “life satisfaction” score. In the interpretation, your scores are compared to a baseline of scores from a growing sample of survey respondents. The report also suggests some simple actions to raise some or all of your scores. Take the survey again after you have embarked on a change to see if your scores change. TAKE THE SURVEY
